The craziest part is that storage has almost nothing to do with storage.

Most buyers think they’re looking for more bedrooms, a bigger kitchen, or nicer finishes.

But when I walk through homes with clients, I notice something interesting.

The homes that feel calm, organized, and easy to live in usually have one thing in common: enough storage for real life.

Not just closets.

A place for backpacks, sports gear, Costco purchases, holiday decorations, pet supplies, and all the things that seem to multiply over the years.

Storage isn’t about stuff.

It’s about how your home functions every single day.

And that’s why it’s one of the most overlooked features when buying a home.

The Dancing Realtor is back teaching Zumba and Yoga this summer!

Many people know me as a real estate advisor helping families move with confidence in South Surrey and White Rock. What some may not know is that I’ve also been teaching fitness classes through Yvonne’s Fitness for over 14 years.

This summer, I’ll be teaching at the Ocean Park Community Hall:

• Zumba every Monday & Thursday at 7:00 PM (July 6 – September 3)
• Ongoing Zumba Gold every Monday at 10:00 AM ($13 drop-in)
• Special Yoga Pop-Up Classes on July 23 and August 13 at 8:10 PM following Zumba

Whether I’m helping families find the right home or helping people move their bodies, I love building community and creating spaces where people can thrive.

Early bird registration for the summer session is available until June 27.

At 81, my dad still teaches me how to live.

Many of you have met my dad over the years or have heard me talk about him. He has been one of the greatest influences in my life.

During his recent visit, one of my favourite parts of each day was our morning coffee together. Every breakfast started with a simple cheers and a moment of gratitude for life.

My dad was an exceptional surgeon, but some of his greatest lessons came outside the operating room. After his stroke, not only did he regain his speech within days, he learned to walk again through determination, perseverance, and a refusal to give up.

Today, at 81 years old, with only 10% vision remaining in one eye, he still rides his stationary bike for 2–3 hours a day, gets his 10,000 steps in, exercises his mind with mental math, follows the news, and never stops learning.

As a doctor, he always encouraged his patients to exercise and stay active. He continues to live by the same advice today.

His philosophy is simple:

Never stop moving.
Never stop learning.
Don’t give up.

Dad, thank you for your love, encouragement, wisdom, and for showing me what resilience looks like every single day.

Happy Father’s Day to my dad and to all the incredible dads, grandfathers, stepdads, and father figures who make a difference in our lives. ❤️☕️

Whenever a client says, “I just need…” I know we need to dig a little deeper.

One of the biggest misconceptions I see as a real estate agent is that the solution is always obvious.

“I just need more square footage.”

“I just need another bedroom.”

“I just need a bigger backyard.”

“I just need a newer house.”

But when we start talking, that’s usually not the real issue.

What they often need is:
• Better storage
• A more functional floor plan
• Space for a home office
• A yard the kids will actually use
• Less wasted space and more usable space

The best move isn’t always buying the biggest house your budget allows. It’s finding the home that works best for the way your family actually lives.

That’s why I spend a lot of time asking questions before we ever start looking at homes.

What’s an “I just need…” thought you’ve had about your home?

Most families think preparing for a move starts when they call a real estate agent or start scrolling listings.

In reality, it starts with a few small things months before.

That’s why I put together these 7 weird little things to do this summer if you’re thinking about selling this fall.

As a real estate agent who’s moved with two teenagers, I can tell you that some of the best preparation has nothing to do with packing boxes.

Start with the garage. Take photos of your home while it’s still lived in. Ask your teenager to fill one donation box. Get a quote on that repair you’ve been putting off. Walk through your home like a stranger and notice what you’ve stopped noticing.

And don’t forget to pick one weekend to make memories instead of tackling house projects. You’ll need it.

Save this post for later. Fall will be here faster than the school year. Consider this your warning.

Which one are you most likely to do first?

I have receipts. Literally.

I leased a new Audi Q5 (depreciating the second I drove off the lot). A year ago my husband bought the same model, broken down, for $1500, fixed it himself, and I’m sitting in it right now, worth more than he paid.

A car loses value no matter what you do. A house doesn’t move on its own, the decisions you make are what protect or build value. That’s where I come in.

This one’s linked to the reel I posted previously about my husband fixing up that Audi, tap through if you missed it.

You can mentally redesign the same house for two years and it still won’t tell you what you can actually afford.

The research feels like progress. The spreadsheet feels like progress. None of it gets you closer to actually knowing where you stand.

That part takes one real conversation. Send me a message if you’re ready to find out.

If you looked at my calendar, you’d probably think I’m doing real estate wrong.

Instead of spending all day chasing leads, you’ll often find me meeting someone for coffee, going for a walk-and-talk, grabbing lunch, or hopping on a video chat.

It’s slower.

It’s more time-consuming.

And it’s probably not what most real estate coaches would recommend.

But over the years, I’ve learned that people don’t make big decisions with the person who contacted them the most.

They make them with the person they trust the most.

I’ve built my business through conversations, community, and relationships long before anyone was ready to buy or sell.

That’s why I’ll always choose relationships over transactions and community over cold calls.

In a world obsessed with speed, I’ve chosen connection.

Maybe that’s why some of my best clients started as a coffee chat, a walk, or a simple conversation years before they ever bought or sold a home.

Relationships compound too.

Happy Anniversary to my favourite person. ❤️

I came across this photo from our time in Japan when we first met, and honestly, we look like babies.

Who would have thought that a chance meeting near Mount Fuji would lead to all these years of adventures, moves, challenges, celebrations, and building a life together?

Thomas, thank you for being my sounding board, my biggest cheerleader, and the calm voice when my brain has 47 ideas going at once. Thank you for supporting every crazy dream, every new chapter, and every leap of faith along the way.

I feel incredibly lucky that our paths crossed all those years ago. Life has taken us from Japan to many different places, and through every season, I’m grateful we’ve done it together.

Happy Anniversary, Thomas. So grateful for you and for this beautiful journey we’re still writing together. ❤️

Anyone else ever look back at old photos and wonder where the years went?

Apparently we’re sharing our real estate icks today…

Here are five things that give me the ick when touring homes in South Surrey & White Rock:

• Homes so dark you need to turn on lights at noon.
• The mysterious musty smell that everyone pretends not to notice.
• Artificial grass that fools absolutely nobody.
• A backyard that’s all slope and no play space.
• Six bedrooms and somehow nowhere to put a vacuum cleaner.

Of course, every buyer is different, but after walking through hundreds of homes, these are a few things that make me raise an eyebrow.

Now I’m curious…

What’s one thing that gives YOU the ick when house hunting?
