Remember these Peace Fountain concepts? Before Windsor City Council decided to go with a re-creation of the original Peace Fountain, a few other unique designs were created. They ranged from a glowing orb, an arch, and a water feature spraying from the railings. Unfortunately all these concepts were a bit too much money and council elected to go with the cheapest option, old faithful.

Check out the designs and tell me if you think Windsor should have gone with something more splashy! I love the one where people are ice skating under the arch. Imagine that!?

Windsor's Peace Fountain Set to Return in 2027

After a three-year absence, Windsor's iconic Peace Fountain is officially making its return to the waterfront at Coventry Gardens. Construction begins later this month on the new $10.5 million fountain, featuring upgraded pumps, transformers, and modern components designed to reduce maintenance and withstand the elements for decades.

The park will remain open during construction, with the fountain expected to be installed next year. The City is targeting a September 21, 2027 grand opening to coincide with the International Day of Peace, restoring one of Windsor's most recognizable waterfront landmarks after more than 40 years of service.

Have you been down there since the original fountain was removed? I have and it certainly feels empty without it! Happy to have the Peace Fountain back!

Windsor Development in the Pipeline🏄‍♂️🌊
📍4055 Walker Rd

For Sale: site plan approved commercial retail development on Walker Road. Located at Walker and Cabana, Windsor’s busiest commercial retail corridor, this is easily the most interesting commercial opportunity on the market!

4055 Walker Road is an empty plot of land that comes with site plan approved plans for a three-building commercial plaza, giving a future owner the opportunity to move directly toward construction instead of starting from scratch.

Project Highlights
• Site-approved commercial plaza development
• Approx. 31,830 sq. ft. across three buildings
• Dedicated drive-through building included in the approved plans
• Flexible commercial units ranging from approximately 1,200–13,680 sq. ft.
• 140 on-site parking spaces
• High-visibility Walker Road location near Costco, Home Depot, and Windsor Crossing Premium Outlets

For developers, approvals are often the longest part of the process. Acquiring a site that has already progressed through planning can significantly reduce the timeline to construction.

As commercial growth continues along Walker Road, it will be interesting to see who acquires the site, and whether this approved project moves forward as planned or evolves into something new.

Windsor Developments in the Pipeline 🏄‍♂️🌊

The City of Windsor wants to widen Cabana Road East to 6 lanes as growth in the area continues to accelerate. East Windsor along Cabana has seen significant residential, commercial, and industrial development over the past decade.

Key Details:
• Environmental Assessment Addendum now underway
• Study will evaluate widening Cabana Road East to six lanes
• Corridor extends from Walker Road to the eastern Windsor boundary
• Improvements will also consider intersections, drainage, utilities, and active transportation infrastructure
• Public Information Centre planned later in 2026 for community feedback
• Final recommendations will be documented in an Environmental Study Report
With major employment lands, new residential communities, and commercial development continuing to emerge along the corridor, this study will help determine how Cabana Road East evolves to support Windsor’s future growth.

What do you think? Is this long overdue? Is 6 too many?

Windsor is set to open an International House of Pancakes location as a combination Applebee’s and IHOP on division road.

The two restaurants will co-exist under one roof. A timeline for renovations is expected to be announced soon. Dine Brands Global owns and operates Applebee’s, IHOP, and Fuzzy’s Taco Shop locations.

What do we think? Do combination restaurants work? Will any ever be as good as a combination Pizza Hut and Taco Bell?
