❄️ A/C UNITS DON’T CREATE COLD AIR ❄️

A lot of people think an air conditioner “pushes cold air” into the house.

That’s not actually how it works.

Your A/C system is designed to REMOVE heat from inside the home and transfer it outside through the refrigeration cycle.

Warm air from inside the house passes over the evaporator coil.The refrigerant absorbs the heat.That heat gets transferred outside to the condenser unit.What’s left behind feels cooler, drier, and more comfortable.

So technically:🔥 Furnaces ADD heat❄️ Air conditioners REMOVE heat

Big difference.

This is also why homes with:⚠️ Poor insulation⚠️ Air leakage⚠️ Dirty filters⚠️ Dirty coils⚠️ Low refrigerant⚠️ Poor airflow

…cause A/C systems to work overtime.

Your system is constantly trying to pull heat out faster than it’s coming in.

That can lead to:💸 Higher hydro bills❄️ Uneven cooling⚙️ More wear on the equipment😓 Reduced comfort inside the home

I see this A LOT during inspections and get asked all the time:

“Why does this house have forced air heating… but also electric baseboard heaters in the basement?”

Most of the time? It’s not automatically a defect or major red flag.

In Manitoba, basement areas can be difficult to heat evenly — especially:❄️ basement bedrooms❄️ additions❄️ older finished basements❄️ rooms farthest from duct runs

A lot of homeowners added electric baseboard heaters simply for extra comfort during winter.

Sometimes it can point toward:⚠️ heat loss⚠️ limited airflow⚠️ insulation concerns⚠️ finished basements added after the original HVAC system⚠️ or occasionally a furnace/heating system struggling to evenly heat the lower level

That’s why during an inspection we look deeper:✔️ proper installation✔️ safe wiring✔️ functionality✔️ overall heating performance✔️ signs of larger insulation or airflow concerns

Not every house issue is instantly catastrophic.Sometimes the house is simply telling you where it needs a little extra help.

🚨 Exhaust fan installed INSIDE the shower.

Let’s not overcomplicate this.

Do you take a blow dryer into the shower with you?
No?
👉 Then why is this any different?

This is not just “not ideal.”
This is not “something to monitor.”

❌ This is NOT allowed.
⚠️ This is a shock hazard.
🔥 This is a fire risk.

Water + electrical components in direct wet locations = bad idea. Every time.

💧 Problem:

Improper exhaust fan location directly in shower area

⚠️ Why it matters:

* Increased risk of electrical shock
* Potential equipment failure
* Moisture intrusion into electrical components
* Real fire hazard if things go wrong

🛠 Solution:

Install a properly rated wet-location exhaust fan AND ensure it’s protected (GFCI where required) and installed to manufacturer specs.

Most people don’t notice this.

That’s the problem.

Laying flat on the ground
twisting sideways
getting into spots no one else is checking…

All just to get that photo
that actually explains the issue in the report.

Because around here…
it’s not about looking professional in the moment—
it’s about giving you the clearest damn report possible.

So yeah…
on the ground, in the dirt, awkward angles and all—
