For National Indigenous History Month, we’re proud to spotlight Nikki Muswaggon: an apprentice electrician, certified fibre optic technician, and community-rooted program manager making powerful change across Manitoba.

Nikki Muswaggon blends technical expertise with community-rooted leadership, driving infrastructure projects across 48 Indigenous communities in Manitoba. From helping with solar installations in remote areas to strategic work with tribal councils and MPs, she brings purpose and precision to every project. Starting as an apprentice electrician with NRG Management, Nikki quickly rose to become the youngest Program Manager at Keewatin Tribal Council — a testament to her skill, drive, and commitment to lasting impact.

This story is especially close to us right now.

In 2024, we travelled to Cross Lake First Nation to film Nikki’s Day in the Life video. We were met with overwhelming warmth and hospitality. Today, the 2025 wildfires have devastated parts of Northern Manitoba — including Cross Lake, where 8,000 residents have been affected and 500 essential workers are still keeping vital systems running amid a nearby 1,200-hectare blaze.
