Before the advent of National Unity Day, the state of West Cameroon had three main functioning airports—Tiko, Bamenda, and Mamfe (Bisongabang). These were managed under Cameroon Air Transport. The airports received domestic and international flights, demonstrating how viable and growing the economy of West Cameroon was.

Apart from Bamenda, Tiko, and Mamfe airports, there were airstrips in Bali, Limbe, Kumba, Wum, and Nkambe. When Southern Cameroonian leaders traveled to Foumban, they went by air. These were fast-growing structures, but with the coming of unity and power centralized in Yaoundé, the structures gradually disappeared. Now, the two regions cannot boast of receiving flights.

The reconstruction of the defunct Tiko Airport has become a political dream to woo voters. Bisongabang has been restricted to military operations only. Ten years ago, Bamenda Airport was renovated. After that, it stopped functioning until recently, when it was renovated to receive the Pope. Since he left, the airport is gradually being abandoned again.

Thus, the concept of national unity appears to have done Anglophone regions more harm than good. Whenever most Anglophones agitate, they do so because they feel that structures which should have been preserved were instead removed.

Today, Cameroon operates airports in Douala, Garoua, and Maroua, while the two Anglophone regions struggle with bad roads.

The Rise Of An Anyang Sub Division

In the sight and sound of Anyang Clan, that falls under Akwaya sub division, here come a moment of reflection in the minds of Anyang Elites and scholars.

Anyang is a big clan that speaks Denya , it is the pride of Akwaya sub division. Anyang people makes the greatest number in terms of Population, geographical size and Raw materials. Anyang clan has the highest number of elites in the government and a rich soil profile.
How can our entire clan be divided by the administration, merging us with different clans just to silent us as a people ?
Anyang is made up of more than 35 villages , it would be wise and better if the government of Cameroon creates Anyang Sub division.
By nature, Anyang man is not an Akwaya man, and our cultural practices are different. We are from the forest zone and our beliefs are signet from theirs.

Ministère de l'Administration Territoriale du Cameroun please , Your excellency listen to our cry. How can we explain to outsiders, that big Anyang villages like Akwa , Mbu, Basho , all falls under Mbulu court area? How are we related to these people ?
We are pleading with the government to create more sub divisions in our area , and give us Anyang sub division like they for Tinto and Eyumojock sub divisions.

Ngoketunja is a division with about 3 sub divisions, in these sub divisions , they are made up of 6 villages highest , per sub division, same with Turbah sub division.

Anyang people are pleading for the government to see to our dilemma and listen to it. 35+ villages for a clan is enough to be recognized even as a Division like kupe—muanenguba.
