Let me say something that might challenge how we’ve always done business…
Many South African businesses are paying far more than they need to.
Not because they’re careless —
But because products often pass through multiple middlemen before they land on our shelves.
Right now, we’re in China
Inside the factories that manufacture:
• Restaurant equipment
• Furniture (commercial & residential)
• Car parts
• Gym equipment
• Hair & beauty products
• Bulk wholesale goods
The exact categories that later appear in SA —
With significant markups added along the way.
But here’s the real issue:
Importing isn’t just about finding a supplier.
It’s about contracts.
Verification.
Compliance.
Payment protection.
Shipping terms.
Risk management.
That’s where most people hesitate — and understandably so.
With my legal and compliance background, I approach sourcing differently.
Factory due diligence, Clear agreements, structured terms and proper documentation.
So, here’s my genuine question:
If the legal, compliance and risk side was properly handled —
Would you consider sourcing directly?
Or does importing still feel too risky?
Comment:
“DIRECT” or “TOO RISKY”
