ANOTHER DRY SEASON IN PARADISE
February, 2019…

We’re half way into the dry season and the irrigation pipes are humming! Got to keep those trees alive.

Mango trees thrive without irrigation, but the Avocados need weekly watering. Meanwhile we’ve planted Kale and Maracuyal, a delicious tropical fruit that grows on a vine. The Pineapples take their time, about two years for a ripe fruit, just one per plant, then the plant dies.

Mid May, 2018…RAINY SEASON IS HERE!



No more irrigating our crops……it’s been raining every afternoon for a couple of weeks now. So now it’s time to plant.

Started with Garlic and with our recent volunteer that had Permaculture experience, we have lots of compost to mix in and help build our soil.

Also the new Cob Wall on the east side of the Hobbit Cob Cottage is almost finished at 3 meters in height, providing a private garden space and a noise barrier from the highway traffic.

We still have many Real Estate bargains on our site. Check it out!

We are still getting flood producing rains in Guanacaste. Cañas suffered flooding last night from Torrential rains.
We are located 15-Km north of Bagaces on Highway 164 to Guayabo. We can see these squalls coming up the valley dumping buckets of rain; sometimes reaching us, and other times passing us by. It's amazing how these microclimates exist within a small radius, but the rainy season is close to being over and soon we will have sunny days again.
I just watched a very interesting video regarding promoting the use of Electric Vehicles (EV's) in Costa Rica at www.MonicaAraya.org and www.CostaRicaLimpia.org
