At REMAX Oceanside, we often talk about what makes Costa Rica’s Central Pacific so special. It is not only the beaches, the waves, or the tropical lifestyle. It is the people who call this community home.
This August, our own Jairo will have the opportunity to compete in the WSL Playa Hermosa 2026 event, taking place August 13–16 in Playa Hermosa de Garabito.
For Jairo, this is much more than another surf competition.
“Playa Hermosa isn’t just another contest venue. It is one of the waves that has shaped me as a surfer and as a person,” he says.
After years of surfing this coastline, competing at home carries a different kind of meaning. It means paddling out in front of family, friends, fellow surfers, clients, and the community that has supported him along the way.
“I have surfed Playa Hermosa in every kind of condition imaginable. The ocean teaches you patience, preparation, humility, and respect,” Jairo explains. “Those lessons have carried into every area of my life, including real estate.”
We could not agree more. Surfing and real estate both require local knowledge, good timing, persistence, and the wisdom not to force the wrong opportunity. Sometimes you wait patiently. Sometimes you paddle hard. And sometimes the perfect wave—or property—finally appears.
We are incredibly proud to support Jairo as he represents Playa Hermosa, Garabito, and the REMAX Oceanside team on this international stage.
