One of the biggest regrets we hear from guests staying with us is surprisingly simple

Many people arrive in Paquera on the ferry and continue straight toward Santa Teresa and the better known parts of the Nicoya Peninsula

What they often do not realize is what they are driving past

This is bioluminescence in the waters around Paquera

When the water moves, microscopic organisms create flashes of blue green light

Move your hand through it and the water can sparkle around you

Paddle through it at night and the movement of the kayak, your paddle and even fish below the surface can leave glowing trails behind them

And unlike many places where bioluminescence is seasonal, around Paquera it can be experienced throughout the year

Then there is Isla Tortuga, quiet beaches, tropical islands, kayaking, snorkeling, fishing and wildlife
