Right at the entrance to Puerto Viejo, where Playa Negra's black sand meets the shore, there's an old grounded barge that's been there for years.
A tree grows out of the deck. Locals fish from the edge. Kids jump off into the Caribbean on weekends. And you'll pass it on the bike ride into town from Casa Roble. 🌴

Puerto Viejo de Talamanca isn't like other parts of Costa Rica. And that's the whole point. 🌴

The Caribbean coast has its own culture, its own food, its own vibe. A layered mix of indigenous Bribri culture, Afro-Caribbean roots, and Tico life that you simply don't find anywhere else in the country.

This is why people come here. And why they keep coming back.

🌊 Beach #3: Playa Cocles

Playa Cocles is where the surfers are. Long waves, warm water, and that classic Caribbean energy that makes Puerto Viejo impossible to forget.

Even if you don't surf, this beach is worth the 10-minute bike ride from Casa Roble just to watch the waves and grab a cold drink at one of the bars nearby.
