After leaving Newcastle’s Quayside for Cyprus in 2020, I now manage two unique holiday rentals in Polis: The Summer Haven at 207, a 2-bedroom townhouse with a stunning sea-view roof terrace, and The Summer House at 308, a cosy 1-bedroom retreat with a tranquil garden and BBQ

courtyard. Our guests are delighted with the luxury we offer—think eco-friendly appliances, Netflix, and fully equipped kitchens—and the perfect location, just 800-900m from the beach between Polis and Latchi, ideal for Akama adventures, watersports, wine tours, or simply soaking up 300+ days of sunshine.

Platea Cafe Droushia – A locals’ favourite tucked in the heart of historic Droushia village, about a 13–minute drive up into the hills from Summer Haven.

Run by the lovely Georgia, this charming bistro serves delicious home-style cooking using fresh local ingredients. We feasted on creamy garlic mussels, a spectacular mixed seafood platter with salmon and king prawns, and the legendary prawn cocktail in a glass — that one took us straight back to the 80s! The grilled halloumi with fresh salad was a crispy, salty perfection.

Opening Hours Tuesday to Saturday: 9:00 AM – 9:00 PM Sunday: 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM (Closed Mondays – always worth calling ahead)

It has that warm village atmosphere where you feel like you’re eating with friends rather than just customers. Proper Cypriot hospitality at its best.

Lunch at our favourite seafood restaurant Y&P Latchi today ☀️

This family-owned restaurant right on the harbour is something special. They have their own traditional Cypriot fishing boats that go out and bring the catch straight to the table every day — you really can’t get any fresher than that!

We ordered the seafood meze and it was absolutely fantastic: octopus, calamari, prawns, mussels, fresh fish, a large fresh salad, homemade dips, garlic bread and all the trimmings. (Lobster is available too if you fancy it!)
Paired with a cold beer and that beautiful harbour view… it really doesn’t get much better than this.

If you’re visiting the Akamas area, Y&P Latchi is a must! Highly recommend ❤️

🌟 Live music under the stars in Polis… nothing beats it.

The new Polis amphitheatre is out for tender (soon!), but right now the nearest proper outdoor venue is Tala.

Thankfully we don’t need to go far — our local gems like Magic Oak and Fly again Irish Pub & Grill are delivering that magical open-air vibe every week.

Warm Cyprus nights, cold drinks, live tunes drifting through the trees… Polis summer nights done right.

This is Akamas in winter – lush green meadows dotted with the young leaves of rare wild Cyprus tulips (Tulipa cypria), fresh air, and beautiful views all around. The trails in the Akamas Peninsula and Paphos Forest are perfect right now, all just a short drive away.

Lunch at Polis Herb Garden today – still one of the best spots just minutes from Summer Haven, Polis! 🔥🍊
Moussaka: proper layers of aubergine, potato & mince, béchamel top baked golden & crispy.
Gemista: peppers, tomatoes & courgettes stuffed with pork and herby rice (or vegetarian version – no meat, extra pine nuts & raisins) + those chunky Cypriot potatoes and a dollop of yoghurt.

Everything tastes garden-fresh, portions are large, prices are good, and the vegetarian/vegan dishes are real mains, not afterthoughts.

Then you walk out the door straight into the herb garden: oranges dropping off the trees, lemon scent everywhere, rows of rosemary, sage, thyme, huge aloe vera, little paths past a pond and under shady pergolas. Grab a fallen orange or pick up their own dried herbs & oils in the shop.

A 5-minute drive or 25-minute walk from Summer Haven. 29°C and sunny in late November – come on! 😎

What a great relaxing day on the Koullà Traditional Boat Cruise in Latchi! We set sail from the picturesque Latchi Harbour for a 4-hour adventure along the stunning Akamas Peninsula. Cruising past the mythical Baths of Aphrodite, before anchoring at the crystal-clear Blue Lagoon.

Next a traditional Cypriot BBQ lunch with chicken and pork, rice, fresh village salad, and warm garlic bread, with local wine and Zivania. 🍗🥗🍷
