Some people seem to think that when you hire a man with a van, you also get a mobile rubbish bin.
They leave behind cardboard boxes, plastic wrapping, old packaging, yesterday literally 2 banana skins, plastic bottle and my "borrowed" used napkins.

A friend asked if I could help him get two carpets up one floor.

“Five-minute job, I thought.”

It was Friday evening, and fortunately he lives next to a pub. So, as is traditional in the countryside, we went in and recruited a few men.

I did wonder why we needed quite so many people for two carpets.

heavy, super long.

After several unsuccessful attempts to get them through the house, we decided to try a different approach.

A few wooden planks came off the balcony, and eventually we managed to get the carpets up that way.

Four men.

Two carpets.

Nearly an hour.

Five-minute job.

That’s how it always starts.
