June 1 marked the start of a new fiscal year for us at Sorell Consulting and Millenia Realty — The Millenia Group. It's a moment I don't usually pause to recognize, but this year feels different.
More than 20 years ago, we planted our firm in Dominica, not because it was the easiest market, but because it was home. And building in Dominica teaches you things no other environment can. It teaches that resilience is not a luxury of design but a fundamental obligation. It teaches that structures must be designed and built to withstand what the island endures – physical pressure, uncertainty, recovery, and change. It teaches that communities in Dominica (and across the Eastern Caribbean) deserve architecture, engineering, construction, and real estate partners who take all of this seriously.
Dominica has been our classroom and our proving ground. Every project we've undertaken, whether through natural disasters, economic shifts, and periods of recovery, has reinforced what it means to build with purpose and durability. And in real estate, that same depth of knowledge shapes every step. Knowing how to buy, sell, invest, and build in this market is a discipline we have spent two decades refining.
Twenty years from now, the Eastern Caribbean will either be remembered as a region that built for the future or one that kept rebuilding the same structures against the same storms. At the Millenia Group, we make that choice through every project specification, every procurement decision, every investment strategy, and every commitment to long-term resilience.
This moment marks the beginning of a deliberate expansion of how we take that work forward in Dominica and the region.
To our clients, partners, and the team who make this possible every day, we thank you.
