There’s something about Italy that reminds you that life doesn’t always have to be rushed.
To sit a little longer.
To walk without a destination.
To enjoy a meal without looking at the clock.
To observe, reflect, breathe… and simply be.
And while traveling here, I realized that this feeling is also one of the things I love most about life in the Dominican Republic.
In Punta Cana, you can find your own version of dolce far niente.
A slower rhythm. The warmth of the Caribbean. The sea, the sun, nature, and the freedom to disconnect from so much of the noise happening around the world.
It’s also a place where people from many different countries, cultures, and backgrounds have made a home — welcomed by a Dominican culture that is naturally warm, social, and open to others.
Sometimes we travel across the world looking for that feeling of peace, only to realize that we can create it wherever we choose to call home.
Italy reminded me of something Punta Cana has taught me for years:
There is a special kind of luxury in having the time, the space, and the peace of mind to simply enjoy being alive.
Maybe that’s our Caribbean version of dolce far niente. 🇩🇴🌴
