We are thrilled to share the brilliant progress of our chochos (Andean lupin) plantations! 🌱 In this video, Klever, a dedicated member of the El Terreno team, talks us through exactly how these incredible crops are growing and thriving in our community.

Promoting sustainable agriculture is at the heart of our programme in rural Ecuador. By cultivating native crops like chocho, we are working to ensure local food security while preserving traditional, eco-friendly farming methods. The fields are looking absolutely fantastic, and we cannot wait for the harvest! ✨

A cultural and educational workshop bringing together traditional Ecuadorian midwives, our gender program interns, the healthcare staff from the Centro de Salud de San Juan de Llullundongo, and the delivery room team from the Hospital de Alfredo Novoa.

The core objective of this workshop was to collaborate so that mothers can experience a birth that is both medically and emotionally safe, while remaining deeply respectful of ancestral traditions. The exchange focused on bridging ancestral knowledge with modern healthcare, highlighting the vital role of women and midwives in rural community development and maternal health preservation.

Who says giving programme feedback has to be boring? To celebrate completing our latest evaluations, we turned reflection into a bit of healthy competition! 🏋️‍♂️
Our volunteers, current interns, and staff took on the ultimate endurance test: a squat-hold challenge. The rules were simple—the person who held the position the longest walked away with a gift card! The leg burn was very real, but the energy was absolutely electric. ⚡️

Massive congratulations to our winner, Tibert (), for fighting through the burn! 🏆

We want to send a huge thank you to everyone who completed their feedback. Your insights are incredibly valuable and help us to keep improving and growing our community. 📋🌱

✨ Keen to join the next fun challenge? A quick reminder not only to our current cohort but also to our alumni (past volunteers and interns from previous cohorts): completing your programme feedback on time is your golden ticket to participating in these exclusive challenges!

This video showcases the completed interior of Gina’s house, including the finished second floor and bathroom — the result of dedicated work carried out by our interns.

What began as a collaborative design process has now taken shape as a functional and meaningful living space, reflecting both technical effort and community collaboration.

Projects like this highlight the impact of hands-on work, where learning goes beyond theory to create real improvements in people’s daily lives 💚

As part of his internship, Harrison 🇬🇧 carried out the measurement of Daisy’s home, documenting its layout and spatial dimensions as a key step in the architectural process.

This hands-on exercise allowed for a deeper understanding of the existing structure, connecting technical skills with the lived reality of the space. By working directly on-site, the process becomes more than measurement — it becomes a way of learning from the home, its context, and the people who inhabit it.

A meaningful example of architecture rooted in observation, collaboration, and real-world experience 🌿
