The information we receive through our nervous system includes visual, auditory, tactile and other stimuli. A very clear example is when we enter a cathedral. The simple fact of paying attention to what surrounds us makes being there a very special experience: sitting on a bench, appreciating the natural light coming through its windows, hearing the organ in the background, smelling the humidity of its walls and at the same time being aware of the passing of time. In this particular moment, we can understand how the built environment can move us.
