BACK TO SCHOOL IN THE GUADALHORCE VALLEY
👉 For families moving here, here’s the useful bit:
✨ Spanish state schooling: there are public schools and secondary institutes throughout seven towns, with the Junta de Andalucía’s official school finder allowing parents to check stage, ownership, bilingual provision, transport, and after-school services.
✨ International schooling in the Valley: Novaschool Sunland International is in Estación de Cártama, right in the Guadalhorce Valley. It follows the British system for ages 3–18, with English alongside Spanish and additional French/German options, and offers school transport.
✨ Living around Coín or Alhaurín el Grande? St. Anthony’s College sits on the Camino de Coín in Mijas Costa and follows the British curriculum through to IGCSE and Sixth Form, making it a practical international-school option for families on the western side of the Valley.
✨ Closer to Alhaurín de la Torre: Colegio El Pinar is a private Spanish school with a strong multilingual English/French/German programme, covering Infantil through Bachillerato and FP. It’s worth noting that it is plurilingual rather than a foreign-curriculum international school.
The good news? Living inland doesn’t mean giving up choice. You can have village life, bigger gardens, mountain views and access to both Spanish and international education — often without living in the middle of the Costa del Sol.
