TIE card renewal delays

Attempting to get a TIE appointment in Spain right now is very difficult.

The Cita Previa system for obtaining the appointment to renew a TIE card is currently facing a massive nationwide gridlock.

Here is what's causing the bottleneck:

New Regularisation Program: A major government program launched this April has flooded immigration offices with hundreds of thousands of new applications.

The "Bot" Problem: Automated bots are still scraping and snapping up open slots the exact second they are released.

Hotspots Hit Hardest:
The Costa Blanca (Alicante, Torrevieja, Benidorm) and Costa Cálida (Murcia and Cartagena) are reporting that slots vanish instantly.

While this is an ongoing problem, the most important thing to know is that your protection and residential status has not changed even though the physical card has expired.

BREAKING NEWS for Spanish Holiday Rental Owners!

The Spanish Supreme Court has officially ANNULLED the creation of the National Registry for Short-Term Rentals (NRUA).

For property owners, this means that complex national registration process is now GONE.

But wait! There is a crucial catch.

While the national mandate was struck down, several elements remain strictly in force:

* You MUST still have your regional tourist licence (e.g., VFT/VUT).
* Booking platforms (Airbnb,Booking,com) MUST still transmit your rental data and income details to tax authorities.
* Regional enforcement continues as normal.
