CASA TRES PATIS
An enclosing wall, a patio open to the sky and rooms around it are three elements with which the Greek and the Roman villas of Empuries were built. Located in Albons, a town in the same
area, this house wants to pay tribute to this classic distribution.
Two roughly plastered opposing walls encircle the entire plot, protecting it from the strong nonorthrth winds and from prying eyes; however, they are positioned in a way that allows the people inside to enjoy the view, enjoy the shelter and enjoy the disposition of the interior space.
Three patios to reproduce a villa. The first is the lively town square, covered by the shade of a tree. The second, a lively pond of water (reminiscent of an impluvium) surrounded by vegetation. The third comes in the shape of a lively garden with aromatic plants the kind you would find in a monastery.
These elements (the walls, the patios and their disposition) frame a joyous interior space enabling a rich and sheltered experience of life that is further reinforced with the contrast of the material (concrete) meant to speak of the persistence that we can sometimes feel in the presence of ruins from a time before us.
The rooms are distributed around the patios and are grouped in three independent pavilions, light and permeable to the world outside. It is an architecture with a nomadic spirit, linked to the mobility of living things. The essence of being alive opposes the concrete patios with a built based on air more than matter. An assembly of diaphanous elements: ceramic lattices, glass, steel and wood give shape to breezes, shadows, light, naps and laughter.
