CHIPPY UPDATE – NOT LONG TO GO! 🐟🍟💙
We feel like we’ve been saying this for bloody ages now… 😂
“Not long now!”
It’s definitely become our most-used phrase whenever anyone asks when The Chippy is opening. But genuinely, seriously, hand on heart… NOT LONG TO GO!
As we draw closer and closer to our goal, we wanted to take a little time out to share exactly where we are, what we’ve achieved and, most importantly, what’s still left to do before we can finally open those doors.
If you’ve been following our videos and page closely, you’ll already know most of this, but we’re still getting messages every single day asking for updates, so here’s the full rundown of where things stand as of Sunday 20th September. 👀
🏗️ THE BUILDING WORK
The major renovation work inside The Chippy is now 100% COMPLETE!
The building work, tiling, new toilets, electrics, CCTV and alarm system are all finished and ready to go. What was once an empty unit has been completely transformed, and we’re finally starting to see the Chippy we’ve had in our heads for months become a reality.
🎨 THE PAINTING
Our painter has done all the hard yards, preparing the walls and ceilings, getting everything sealed and giving the shop its first two coats.
All that’s left now is the final coat on the shop walls and ceiling, plus the three coats needed for the kitchen walls.
All in all, we reckon there are only a couple of days of painting left, and then we can finally put the bloody paintbrushes away! 😂
🍟 THE EQUIPMENT
All the equipment has now arrived apart from one crucial preparation table, which should hopefully be with us on Monday or Tuesday.
Once the painting and cleaning are finished, we can get everything into its final position, plug it all in, test it and make sure every single piece of equipment is working exactly as it should.
And THAT is when things are really going to start feeling like a proper chippy! 🐟🍟
☀️ THE OUTSIDE TERRACE
This is one of the bits we’re most excited about!
Work on the outside area is well underway, and the terrace fencing should be completely built and finished by Wednesday next week.
After that, we’ve got the electrician coming to install all the outside lighting and make the place look pretty. Then it’s just a case of getting the furniture, plants and decorations into position.
We’ve got a proper little vision for this terrace, and we cannot wait to see it all come together. Fish and chips in the sunshine, anyone? ☀️🍟
🪟 THE FINISHING TOUCHES
The window graphics and signs are all done and installed, and the place is finally starting to look like THE CHIPPY from the outside.
Once the painting and equipment installation are finished, we’ll be bringing in the cleaning team for one almighty deep clean.
And believe us, they’ve got their work cut out! 😂
We’ve got a team of cleaners on standby, ready to attack the mess and get the whole place sparkling from top to bottom.
📋 THE BIG ONE – PAPERWORK!
Now, this is the important bit, folks, and the main reason we still haven’t announced an official opening date.
Before we can open to the public, we need the full legal green light, and unfortunately, the timing of that is completely out of our hands.
We can work every hour under the sun, finish every little job and have the place looking absolutely beautiful, but until that final approval comes through, we cannot officially open.
The good news is that the green light could come at any time, so we’ve got absolutely everything crossed that this coming week brings the news we’ve all been waiting for. 🤞💙
And that’s why we’re carrying on at full speed behind the scenes. We want to be completely ready so that when the approval arrives, we can get straight into action rather than starting another list of jobs!
🐟🍟 AND THEN… THE SOFT OPENING!
Before the big official opening day, we’ll be holding a soft opening for the whole team, family and friends.
And here’s something for you lot…
We’ll also be inviting a few of our lovely Facebook followers to come along and join us! 👀💙
This will give us the chance to put everything through its paces in a real service environment, test the equipment, get the team working together and make sure everything is running smoothly before we unleash The Chippy on Corralejo.
So keep your eyes on the page because you never know… you might just get yourself an invitation to be one of the first people through the doors!
So, all in all, it probably sounds like there’s still loads to do, but the reality is that everything within our control is coming together incredibly quickly now.
The big building jobs are done. The equipment is almost all here. The finishing touches are underway. The terrace is taking shape. And we’re getting closer every single day.
We just need that final green light. 🚦
So… dare we say it one more time?
