Stand - up Paddle boarding - in calm waters.
Paddle boarding is easier that it looks, so give it a go in the calm, warm Mediterranean - your kids will no doubt get the hang of it more quickly than you do, of course. The instructors at Sup Ibiza decide on the best beaches to use each day depending on the weather, then teach you the basics before leading the group on a paddle around the coast for a couple of hours, taking in caves and coves.

Best for: Over eights who are confident swimmers.

Coastal Cycling.
The coastal paths in Ibiza are perfect for leisurely cycling. A guided tour, covering around 12 miles (19 km) in two hours, is an easy ride and takes you up the coast from the family resort of Santa Eulalia to Cala Nova beach, with time for a splash around in the shallow water. You also cycle along tracks in the countryside, passing farms and stopping off at an 18th-century olive mill. Kids can have their own bike or ride in a trailer or in a child seat, depending on competence and confidence.
Best for: Under 14s.

Jeep Safari.
Get away from your villa and go back to nature by exploring the island in Jeeps that take you off road to discover Ibiza’s mesmeric landscapes both inland and along the coast.
Although the ride itself is quite a thrill as you trundle down hidden tracks, you learn a lot about birds, animals, plants and traditional life along the way and there is time to cool off in the sea at a gorgeous cove.

Aquarium Cap Blanc.
This aquarium is based in San Antonio. You can see brightly coloured fish, octopus, rays and other marine creatures in their natural underwater habitat in this eerie underground cavern, an ancient Smuggler’s grotto transformed into an aquarium.

With a small bar and terrace jutting out over the sea, it makes a nice afternoon out and is easily reached from San Antonio either by bus, strolling along the coastline, or on one of the boat cruises from the harbour.

Ibiza’s Old Town has been named a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is one of the island’s biggest tourist attractions. Enter via the Portal de ses Taules and wander through Plaza de Vila (the main square).

Prepare to be charmed by the white-washed buildings then disappear into one of the winding cobbled streets that lead to the top of the hill overlooking the town, for tapas and a glass of local wine.
