My design journey began over 20 years ago, and it all started right here in Ibiza. I embarked on a renovation project for friends, between Santa Gertrudis and San Mateo.
Q2: How would you characterize your design style?
Pascal: Defining my style is a challenge, as it evolves with each project. I embrace minimalism, I am drawn to the elegance of natural materials and colours.
Q3: Do you have some architects who served you as inspiration in your work?
Pascal: Yes of course, Mies van der Rohe, German architect who worked a lot in Chicago. Japanese minimalist architects such as Tadao Ando and Kengo Kuma. Their work I really like, and it often inspires me in my work as well.
Q4: When dealing with renovation projects, do you have a preference for specific materials, and how do you tailor material choices to the project's goals and nature?
Pascal: I tend towards materials from nature, particularly wood and stone. My colour palette often takes cues from the natural world. The material selection is a highly contextual process.
Q5: Can you delve into the approach and underlying design concept for the renovation of Palacio?
Pascal: For every project, I respect the existing space and its history. At Palacio, this meant preserving the historical significance of elements like the stairs handrails, while introducing openness and an abundance of light. It's about harmonizing the past with a fresh outlook.
Q6: What sets Palacio apart from other residences in Ibiza?
Pascal: Palacio is truly one of a kind, distinguished by its historical legacy. It stands as a testament to Ibiza's rich heritage and the preservation of a unique character.
