We wanted to inform you of an important update regarding the NRUA / National Register for short-term rentals in Spain.

The Spanish Supreme Court has annulled the national registration procedure, ruling that the Spanish State did not have the legal competence to create a single national register for short-term rentals, as this area falls largely under the authority of the autonomous regions.

This means that the national NRUA requirement, as originally introduced, is no longer applicable in its current form. However, this does not remove the need to comply with regional tourist rental regulations (VUT). Properties must still comply with the relevant requirements of their autonomous community, including existing tourist licence obligations where applicable.

Yesterday, on my personal, Renate van Nijen page - and feel free to become 'a friend', I shared a reel, just because FB showed it to me as a reminder of something I posted many years ago. Did you see it? It was a painting I actually painted over 25 years ago when I was still living in the Netherlands. Back then I had created some paintings of couples, and most were sold. This one came with me to Spain, but as sadly damaged during an exhibition in an old olive mill in Spain. I can't sell the original anymore, only as a print of 60x75cm. But this work became part of a really interesting story. Rather magical in fact. I'm going to share this story soon and it involves another painting.
