Looked at a unique piece of land this week, part of it on an isthmus jutting into Beznar Lake with water on three sides, planted with avocados. There was a water cistern and a small building with a porch and with views across the lake. It really is a fantastic time to be in the valley during May. The plants seem to be growing in front of your eyes and the new growth is shiny and vibrant. It is no wonder that El Valle de Lecrin was used by the Moors as the market garden for Granada. Anything grows here, the local tomatoes are incredibly sweet and juicy, nothing like those grown in the plastic invernaderos along the coast. I once bought some seeds from England to plant in my garden here and they exploded! ‘Too much sun,’ they cried in their death throes.

Casa Capricho is pretty enough to be shown in one of the open days in an English village. It is still for sale, so get up here and see it at its best, before it is snapped up.

I'm not supposed to have a favourite village, but I lived in Saleres for 15 years and it was my introduction to the Lecrin Valley. Casa Pepa is a house at the entrance to Saleres which is ready to move into. It is distributed over two different levels each level being self-contained with kitchens, bedrooms and bathrooms.
