Lots of alternatives to the busy beach at Burriana - http://www.andalucia.com/nerja/beaches.htm
Canuelo was our favourite - fantastic snorkelling and there is even a little minibus which runs you (and all your kit) down the long windy track to the beach and back for E2/adult.
