Spain has scrapped its national holiday rental registry, and around 111,000 properties that were blocked from platforms like Airbnb could now return. Sounds straightforward, right?

Not so fast — especially if you're buying on the Costa Blanca.

The regional Valencian licence is still fully required. A tourist licence doesn't automatically transfer when a property is sold. And properties in apartment buildings still need community approval before a new licence can even be applied for.
