Villa Lime - Soller - Majorca - Balearic Islands
We stayed at Villa Lime from 9th August to 23rd August 2016 . We hired a car at Palma Airport and drove to Soller ( around 30-40mins) Just before entering Soller there is a tunnel with a toll of 5.20 Euros. Ian met us in his jeep on the main road , loaded up the suitcases and drove us up to the Villa . The road up to the Villa, although a short distance , is steep and narrow and after reading previous reviews we decided to leave the car on the main road where there is ample room for parking. However if you're a confident driver and like a challenge the hill won't present any problems and there is parking in the Villa grounds .
Ian gave us a full tour of Villa Lime , the accommodation , gardens , sun deck and swimming pool. We were blown away! The facilities are fabulous and Ian and Andrea are perfectionists . Their attention to detail is second to none. Once Ian had left us to settle in , we looked at each other and realised we were in paradise ! Our two week stay was spent sun bathing ( on very comfortable sun loungers ) , swimming in the lovely pool , eating ( lots of BBQs) and drinking in the shade of orange trees . We had planned to tour the island ( wherever we've been in the past we've made full use of our hire car) but we really didn't want to waste a day away from Villa Lime , so on this particular holiday the car didn't get used ! We did have two day trips into Port De Soller and Palma , but those trips were to experience the rides on the tram from Soller centre ( 6 euros each - got the bus back 1.50 euros) and the train to Palma from Soller train station ( 16 euros each - got the bus back 3.50 euros)
Food wise we shopped at Suma , a smallish supermarket that had all the provisions we needed. Just go across the road at the bottom of the hill, past the recycle bins , down the lane , down some steps , turn left and after about 400 yards it's on your left. This is also the route into Soller town square which is around a further 500 yards past the supermarket .
In the evenings we went into Soller town square which has some lovely bars and restaurants , the parish church and town hall, and offers an almost vintage atmosphere. The famous wooden tram runs through the village square and adds a quaintness to the surroundings . There was a mix of nationalities, as well as lots of locals. We felt that Soller town centre was the icing on the cake to our fabulous accommodation at Villa Lime
The trip coincided with our 29th Wedding anniversary and we felt the Villa would be perfect for honeymooners as well as old codgers like us ! So peaceful, so romantic and so private . Just light the candles in the trees and you have a real love nest !!
All in all we had a wonderful, fabulous and amazing two weeks . We wanted to book again in 2017 , but the only available dates unfortunately didn't suit us . Ian and Andrea have promised we can be their first booking in 2018 - we are holding them to that promise !!
