In Galicia’s cooler months, the key to comfort is combining the right heating system with excellent home design—especially insulation and moisture control. A highly efficient house (rated A+ or similar) can make the season feel almost effortless, with lower costs and greater comfort.

🌦️ Moisture and Perceived Warmth
Humidity plays a big role in thermal comfort. Low humidity makes air feel warmer because evaporation from the skin is reduced.

Galicia’s coastal climate tends to be damp, so dehumidification or moisture control is often as important as heating itself.

A well-sealed home with controlled ventilation (e.g., mechanical ventilation with heat recovery, MVHR) keeps humidity balanced while conserving heat.

🔥 Choosing the Right Heating System
Heat pumps (aerothermal or geothermal): Very efficient in Galicia’s mild winters, providing both heating and cooling.

Radiant floor heating: Works well with heat pumps, distributing warmth evenly and reducing energy use.

Biomass stoves or boilers: Popular in rural Galicia, using local wood or pellets—cost-effective and sustainable.

High-efficiency gas boilers: Still common, but less future-proof compared to renewable systems.

🏡 Efficiency and Design
Insulation and airtightness are the foundation. Without them, even the best heating system wastes energy.

Double or triple glazing reduces heat loss and condensation.

Passive solar design—large south-facing windows, thermal mass materials—helps capture daytime warmth.

Energy rating A+ means the house is designed to minimize losses, so heating demand is low and the cooler months feel barely noticeable.

💶 Cost, Comfort, and Lifestyle
Efficient systems reduce bills significantly. A heat pump in a well-insulated home can cut energy use by 50–70% compared to traditional systems.

Comfort is holistic: steady temperature, balanced humidity, and quiet operation matter as much as raw efficiency.

Lifestyle branding: A home marketed as “A+ efficient, moisture-balanced, and designed for comfort” resonates strongly with buyers who value sustainability and low running costs.

There are many candidates for cheap-to-run, allergy-friendly 30 kW pellet furnacees There are a number of EcoPellet 30 kW model, which combines high efficiency (>94%) with automatic burner cleaning and compact design. It’s designed to minimize dust and emissions, making it gentler for people sensitive to other fuel systems.

🔑 Why Pellet Furnaces Are Allergy-Friendly
Cleaner combustion: Pellet systems burn biomass at high efficiency, producing fewer particulates compared to wood stoves or coal.

Low dust exposure: Modern models include sealed hoppers and automatic feeding, reducing airborne dust when refilling.

Stable heat output: Unlike traditional fireplaces, pellet furnaces provide consistent warmth without smoke fluctuations.

FASCINATING FUTURE OF NANTES, INCLUDING SANXENO
Althouth high technology delvelopment can be dry when looking wonderfully landscaped garderns,. beauttully indterior decorated intieriors within a house.

This development is being recognized as a major turning point: by the end of 2025, the Nantes–Sanxenxo high‑technology park is expanding dramatically, with lithium battery storage at its core, and it is already being seen as a spark of opportunity for young students and innovators in the region.

🚀 Why This Expansion Matters

High‑technology hub: The park is not just about ...But, when energy storage—it represents a cluster of advanced industries where research, engineering, and applied innovation converge.

Lithium battery storage: At the heart of the project is cutting‑edge energy storage, essential for Europe’s renewable energy transition. Facilities like this stabilize the grid, reduce fossil fuel reliance, and open pathways for electric mobility.

Cross‑regional collaboration: Linking Nantes (France) and Sanxenxo (Spain) makes this project unique. It symbolizes European cooperation in technology and sustainability, bridging Atlantic innovation corridors.

🎓 Opportunities for Young Students

Career pathways: Students in engineering, IT, and environmental sciences will find new roles in battery technology, smart grids, and clean energy systems.

Innovation culture: The project is being described as a “spark of technology”—a place where young minds can experiment, prototype, and contribute to Europe’s green future.

🌍 Regional Impact by End of 2025

Nantes: Already a hub for aerospace and maritime industries, Nantes will now strengthen its role in energy innovation.

Sanxenxo and Galicia: Known for renewable energy potential (wind, hydro, and solar), Galicia gains a strategic anchor project that ties local resources to European‑scale technology.

Surrounding areas: The expansion is expected to attract investment, create jobs, and stimulate supporting industries such as logistics, materials science, and digital infrastructure.

✨ Why It’s “High News”

This isn’t just another industrial park—it’s being positioned as a flagship for Europe’s technological evolution. By late 2025, the narrative is clear:

It’s a symbol of rapid growth in clean energy.

It’s a magnet for young talent and calibre of people that will be attraceted to this region.

It’s a model of cross‑border cooperation that other regions will follow.

We are describing a new high‑technology lithium battery storage project being developed between Nantes (France) and Sanxenxo (Spain), expected to be advancing toward completion by the end of 2025. The project is positioned as unique in its scale and technological approach.

🔋 Key Points About the Development
Location synergy: Nantes is a hub for advanced industry and innovation in western France, while Sanxenxo in Galicia offers proximity to Atlantic shipping routes and renewable energy potential. A joint initiative suggests cross‑border collaboration in energy infrastructure.

Lithium battery storage: These facilities are critical for stabilizing renewable energy grids. They store excess electricity from solar and wind and release it when demand peaks, reducing reliance on fossil fuels.

High‑technology angle: The description of the facility as “unique” implies advanced features such as:

Next‑generation lithium chemistries (e.g., lithium‑iron‑phosphate or solid‑state cells).

Smart grid integration, allowing real‑time balancing of supply and demand.

Scalable modular design, enabling expansion as energy needs grow.

Timeline: With development “towards the end of 2025,” this aligns with Europe’s broader push for energy independence and decarbonization targets set for 2030.

🌍 Strategic Importance
Energy transition: Europe is investing heavily in battery storage to complement renewable energy. This project could serve as a model for regional cooperation.

Economic impact: Such facilities often attract skilled jobs in engineering, operations, and maintenance, while also boosting local economies through supporting industries, and required local manufacturing.

Sustainability branding: Positioning the project as “ununique” (likely meaning truly unique) highlights its potential as a flagship for innovation in clean energy.

✨ Why It Stands Out
Unlike standard storage plants, a cross‑regional facility linking Nantes and Sanxenxo suggests:

Shared expertise between French industrial innovation and Galician renewable potential.

A symbolic partnership bridging northern and southern Europe in the energy transition.

Potential to become a benchmark project for future EU‑wide energy storage networks.

Would you like me to draft a polished announcement or branding narrative for this project—something that emphasizes its uniqueness, cross‑border collaboration, and role in Europe’s clean energy future? That way, you’d have a compelling text ready for stakeholders or social media.

The Nantes industrial estate in Sanxenxo is the location chosen by the Chinese company Sungrow to launch the first battery-powered electricity warehouse in Galicia .

This project, with an investment of 6.5 million euros , of which the Spanish government contributes 1.6 million through the Perte (Strategic Project for Economic Recovery and Transformation), will produce 20 megawatts per hour, enough to supply electricity to around 2,500 homes .

The warehouse, which will be located on a plot of land measuring more than 3,000 square meters , is expected to be ready for operation next August , after completing all environmental procedures and receiving the municipal license. The facility, he notes, is strategically located, as it will be built on industrial land just a few meters from an electrical substation.

Business bet

The government subdelegate in Pontevedra, Abel Losada , met yesterday with Daniel Sánchez, CEO of Sungrow in Spain and Portugal, and José Ramón Rivas, head of project development.

At this meeting, Losada, in addition to congratulating the company's executives for this initiative, applauded the "intelligence and pioneering nature of this business initiative aimed at competing, under increasingly favorable conditions, with combined gas cycle centers."

He also noted that the implementation of these types of storage facilities in Spain, and specifically in Galicia, is a second step toward the deployment of renewable energy , as they will allow the grid's energy capacity to be balanced to meet demand at times when energy production declines due to weather conditions.

Likewise, Losada highlighted this initiative because it represents "a transformative step for the energy system in the direction of renewable energies."

🥑 AVOCADO SEASON IS HERE! 🥑

We’re expecting a massive harvest this year — over 500 to 800 avocados! These beauties are giants — up to 15 cm long — buttery smooth, fibre-free, and ripening just 3–6 days after picking. Normally you wait for the texture and hardness you prefer for your recipes. Generally the avocados are normally 12 to 14 cm long before we pick them

The avocado tree is obviously "very happy", stands about 7 to 8 metres high and 7 metres wide. This breed of avocado is unusual for this region, but obviously well suited to the soil and climatic conditions. We come from Australia and we normally don't see these type of avocados.

🌱 Harvest tip: Pick only what you’ll eat in the next couple of weeks, then come back for more — they keep growing and ripening on the tree.

This is going to be our most prolific season yet, and we can’t wait to share the goodness. Who’s ready for creamy guacamole, fresh avocado toast, and endless salad toppings?

📸 Stay tuned for harvest photos and recipes!

24 MATURE VINES ON THE PROPERTY.

Twenty-four mature Catalan grapevines thrive on the property, offering late-picked clusters known for their deep aroma and natural sweetness. Their resistance to mould and pests means no fungicides or pesticides are needed, protecting the health of children, pets, and the land.

In 2021, just one-third of the harvest yielded 100 litres of white wine. Five bottles remain, each capturing the essence of a season and the memory of my wife's cousin, who lovingly crafted the batch before his passing.

LATE SUMMER GALICIAN FIGS.
This is a perfect Galician moment — the sweetness of just-picked figs from our fig tree in the front of the property, meeting the crisp, saline brightness of Albariño is a pairing made in heaven.
Albariño, grown mainly in the **Rías Baixas** region of Galicia, is famous for its **high acidity, citrus and stone-fruit aromas, and subtle sea-breeze salinity**. Those qualities make it a natural partner for fresh fruit, seafood, and anything that sings of the coast. With figs, you’ll get a lovely contrast: the wine’s zesty lift will cut through the figs’ honeyed richness, while the fruit’s floral notes will echo the wine’s peach and apricot tones.

If you want to take it up a notch, you could add:
- A few slices of **soft goat cheese** or **Manchego curado** alongside
- A drizzle of **local honey** or **almond crumble** for texture
- Or even a plate of **jamón ibérico** to bring in a savory-salty counterpoint

It’s the kind of simple, seasonal luxury that makes late summer in Galicia unforgettable. 🥂🥂🥂
