On February 7, 2024, the Senate took a significant step forward by approving the consideration of the first ‘Feijóo Law’, marking a turning point in the fight against illegal squatting. The Anti-Squatting Law proposed by the Popular Parliamentary Group aims to put an end to this phenomenon by allowing the eviction of squatters in just 24 hours.

This legislation, defended by Senators José Ramón Díez de Revenga and Fernando Martínez-Maíllo, will toughen penalties for squatting, protect private property, and prevent registration in occupied homes, among other measures.

🔍 The law focuses on zero tolerance towards squatting, clearly differentiating between organized criminals who occupy properties and vulnerable people, who are intended to be protected.
