Another unique display of street art which I try and get to see every year is the Pascua Florida (Easter floral displays) in Guía de Isora. Around 20 or so displays are erected in the quiet narrow streets of the old part of the town and you can just amble pleasantly around at your leisure taking in the atmosphere. Not just floral displays, these are contemporary works of art made from metal, wood and other materials, depicting the life, death and resurrection of Christ. You can go along to see them from today, Maundy Thursday, till Easter Sunday. Worth a visit!

It's Easter and as always there is lots happening throughout Tenerife, not least of which is the now annual Passion Play in Adeje portraying the last days and death of Jesus by around 1000 local people. This is the ultimate in street theatre and the event is attended by thousands of people, residents and tourists, and also broadcast live on Spanish television. Tenerife's top sightseeing attraction is the volcano of Mount Teide. You can take the 8 minute cable car ride part of the way to the summit and there are 3 hiking trails you can take from the top cable car station which sits at a height of 3,555m above sea level. If you want to ascend to the volcano's highest peak of 3,718m you can take the Telesforo Bravo trail, but you will need a special permit for this issued by the Teide National Park administration and which needs to be applied for well in advance of your visit ... check out the website for further details - https://www.volcanoteide.com/en/teide_cable_car

A must see in Tenerife at this time of the year is the almond blossom ... and one of the best areas to see it is around Santiago del Teide and nearby Valle de Arriba
