Great news for anyone who has their eye on a house by the Pink Lake in Torrevieja or a cozy apartment in Alicante city. In 2026, the authorities decided to give buyers a treat, so resale property taxes in our province have become much friendlier! 📉
Here is what you need to know to avoid leaving extra money with the tax man (it is much better spent on jamón and sea views):
📅 The Big Date - June 1, 2026
If you sign the deeds in Torrevieja before June, the ITP tax will be the good old 10%. But if you can hold out until the summer, the rate drops to 9%!
Lifehack: Buying a flat in Alicante on May 31st is like buying a cup of coffee that costs a few thousand euros (which is exactly what that 1% difference looks like). Wait until June! ☕️💸
🏰 What if I want a villa?
For those hunting for a home in the Alicante province priced over 1,000,000 €, the rules are a bit stricter. The tax will be 11%, but only on the portion of the price that exceeds that first million. Being a villa owner has its perks, but it also has its price!
