So with spring approaching most have already got seeds planted and are planning all the wonderful things to grow!
Not us!! The situation is pretty bleak!
We rely solely on rain water for our house and the land around it - so no rain and hot temperatures .. even without the hot temps.. not much is surviving! All I seem to be doing well with is the lovely succulents! I might be brave and also try some more chillis!
In the meantime can you everyone please do a rain dance for us??

The windy is MENTAL today! (Gusts at 90kmph apparently) And when the chickens turned up on the doorstep demanding breakfast we knew something was up!!
Their roof on the second part of their casita had blown completely off! Bamboo cane panels, corrugated metal sheets that were screwed into the wood beams and the giant rocks that also were placed on top!
Anywho.. emergency repairs this evening weren’t easy but - 🤞🏼 it’s lasts, at least till the wind dies down!

The Spanish tortilla!!
A real piece of Spanish tradition. Eaten everywhere at any time and loved by everyone. It’s just Pure and simple. Because of this you think it’s really easy to make.. but no there’s a real technique. It’s all about the freshest, best quality ingredients. And after a fair bit of practice I think I’ve made my best one yet! Behold! Those layers of potato with just the right egg, ratio and caramelised onion! Generous seasoning with salt, pepper, and garlic! 🤤 oh and an extra tip- it’s all about the right pan! 🍳

Sorry for the lack of updates.. life’s been busy, and slow all at once!
With the drought status we’re facing .. we haven’t planted any new seeds, and the trees are slow at reawakening- but finally some of the gorgeous almond blossoms is appearing- giving life to the bees too!

On a cultural note has been out and about putting giant bikes and chairs around the place! A super fun way of getting people outdoors- exploring beautiful spots around them!
Over the last two weeks- I have “collected” 3 bikes and 2 chairs- only 4 bikes and 5 chairs left to go! 😅
They also have put out some great walking routes which I’m slowly exploring with the doggos! 🥰

We’ve been cracking on cracking our almonds open! It’s a never ending task.. we’ve not even finished last years! And now we have to think of ways to use them- they can’t all end up as cakes! 😂🙈Yesterday I made almond butter! Patience is key but boy was it worth it! 🤤 roasted, unblanched, with a touch of cinnamon, my home made vanilla essence and our honey.. it’s truly special and with Simon around its not likely to last long!

Poor SirLee.. after finding a lot of blood in the hen house we saw his spur was hanging off 😢, a nice cuddle in a blanket while I cleaned, detached it and sprayed it with disinfectant.. and he’s back on the mend!
After doing some reading apparently this can be quite common.. like loosing a nail. Still poor fella!

Better late than never! Finally planted the garlic today.. The lack of rain really had us in two minds- shall we bother??
But we shall see what this winter - if it ever arrives (today was a glorious 25 degrees) brings. 🤞🏼for regular days of rain and fat garlic bulbs!

Our littlest fluffs hatched from eggs we brought back from our summer trip to Galicia arent so little anymore! They are super friendly and all so different- one with feathered feet, one with rock star “hair” and this fluffy one! However they all do look a bit angry 😠🤷🏼‍♀️😂

A couple from the stage one Olive harvest! 185kg- not great, not bad. Across Spain it’s not been great.. hence oil prices across Europe sky rocketing. We still have more to do so 🤞🏼 we have more oil on the way!
