Torrevieja mourns UK Queen
A minute’s silence was held and the Union Jack was flown at half-mast in Torrevieja’s Plaza de la Constitución this morning, to mark the death of Queen Elizabeth II yesterday.
The occasion was attended by mayor Eduardo Dolón and most of the full council, as well as members of various residents’ associations.
They signed the book of condolences, which is in the entrance to the town hall for any citizen to offer their heartfelt sympathy to the British family.
The mayor offered his condolences in the name of all the municipality’s ‘population to the 5,000 British residents registered there, who he assured are ‘authentic people of Torrevieja’.
A funeral mass will be held at the Inmaculada Concepción church ‘in a few days’ with representatives of all the British associations in Torrevieja.
