As we honour the 20th anniversary of World Cup Levi, we are excited to share some unforgettable memories and moments with you.
The inaugural World Cup Levi race took place on February 28th, 2004. To the delight of the home crowd, Finland’s Tanja Poutiainen (now Tanja Poutiainen-Rinne) emerged victorious, marking her first-ever top podium finish in the slalom World Cup.
Tanja, the most successful Finnish Alpine skier of all time, achieved an impressive 11 World Cup victories throughout her career. She won the giant slalom overall cup twice, the slalom cup once, and earned an Olympic silver medal along with four World Championship medals. Today, Tanja can often be seen in Levi spending quality time with her family.
