Les Deux Lacs is situated in a small hamlet of Menesplier, about 5 minutes away from the nearest village Abjat sur Bandiat and about 7 minutes from St Saud. Our gite is brand new and fully furnished, with 1 double room, 1 twin room, bathroom with shower and an open plan lounge/kitchen. There is a sofa bed that can sleep another 2 guests, plus we can also provide a travel cot. There is a large decking area, with an outside dining table and chairs, so sit back and enjoy those late summer evenings with views over the smaller lake. We have a private pool, playground, tyre swings and a lake to enjoy. While we also offer various board games and outdoor games, like football or swingball. Les Deux Lacs sits in a triangle between the culturally important cities of Limoges, Perigueux and Angouleme in the North Eastern Dordogne. Les Deux Lacs is situated in the Périgord-Limousin Regional Nature Park, aiming to protect and enhance the natural, cultural and architectural heritage of the region. The great diversity of its landscapes makes it a remarkable place of rivers, limestone plateaus, forests, cliffs, Chateau’s, natural lakes and ponds. There are some beautiful swimming lakes and sporting activities to find nearby, St Saud lake and St Estephe, to only name a few. You could spend many hours swimming, walking, cycling and taking in the stunning country side views. Les Deux Lacs is a self-catering holiday rental, to ensure you can get your holiday started as soon as you arrive, we offer a number of additional services to make your time with us as relaxing and as enjoyable as possible. We also offer guests the option to take the burden out of their holiday by letting us prepare you breakfast and/or cook for you in the evening.

𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸 𝟮 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗚𝗮𝘃 & 𝗞𝗮𝘁𝘁... 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝘆'𝘃𝗲 𝗮𝗹𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘆 𝗿𝗲-𝗯𝗼𝗼𝗸𝗲𝗱 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗠𝗮𝘆 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟴!

After spending two weeks with us, they’ve decided they have some unfinished business at 𝑳𝒆𝒔 𝑫𝒆𝒖𝒙 𝑳𝒂𝒄𝒔.

Despite low catch numbers during their second week, we couldn’t be happier that they’ve chosen to come back.

The reality is that this has been an exceptionally difficult period for carp fishing across the region, with lakes everywhere feeling the effects of the prolonged heat, lack of rainfall, and falling water levels. It’s certainly not something unique to us here at 𝑳𝒆𝒔 𝑫𝒆𝒖𝒙 𝑳𝒂𝒄𝒔, with many fisheries experiencing the same challenges.

Even so, the fish here have continued to show plenty of promise. Gavin & Katt have watched them feeding incredibly hard on the natural food, particularly the huge amount of bloodworm in the silt areas — making it frustratingly difficult to tempt them onto a hookbait!

They’ve seen the fish, watched them feeding, and experienced the lake for themselves. They can see the huge potential of 𝑳𝒆𝒔 𝑫𝒆𝒖𝒙 𝑳𝒂𝒄𝒔 when conditions return to normal, and that’s exactly why they want to come back.

A massive thank you to Gavin & Katt for being such wonderful guests. It’s been an absolute pleasure getting to know you both, and we genuinely can’t wait to welcome you back.You definitely have unfinished business!

𝗧𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝗙𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴, 𝗚𝗿𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗻𝘆 & 𝗣𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘆 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝘂𝗻𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗲! 🎣☀️

It’s been another challenging week here at 𝑳𝒆𝒔 𝑫𝒆𝒖𝒙 𝑳𝒂𝒄𝒔, but we couldn’t have asked for better guests!

This week we’ve had the pleasure of spending time with new guests, Gavin & Katt, who are staying with us for 2️⃣ weeks, and after week one, Katt is currently leading the way, with the biggest, after 8 fish between them... but no biggens yet!

But the fishing is tough (still). The prolonged heatwave and rapidly dropping water levels continue to make things difficult. The fish are certainly still feeding, though, and we’ve seen a huge eruption of bloodworm in the silt areas, with carp regularly seen feeding hard on the naturals.

But... there's still 1 more week to go.

Gavin has his sights firmly set on catching either one of our larger catfish or 1 of the elusive albino grass carp. After the effort both he and Katt have put in this week, we’re really hoping one… or preferably both, come his way. It would be thoroughly deserved!

Thankfully, there’s more to a holiday at 𝑳𝒆𝒔 𝑫𝒆𝒖𝒙 𝑳𝒂𝒄𝒔 than just fishing. Gavin & Katt have been making the most of the sunshine, topping up their tans and occasionally escaping the lake to explore some of the fantastic local markets nearby. And there’s been plenty of food sampling along the way… 🫒🧀🥖

Being a Chef back in the UK, Gavin is obviously more than happy with this side of the holiday!

They really are an absolute pleasure to have here, and it’s been lovely getting to know them both. So now it’s all eyes on WEEK 2!

𝗢𝘂𝗿 𝗪𝗲𝗱𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 - 𝗥 & 𝗔 - 𝟬𝟭.𝟬𝟳.𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟲 🤍

After 19 years, 2 children, 2 countries, and building our own little business together, Raisha and I finally stepped away from 𝑳𝒆𝒔 𝑫𝒆𝒖𝒙 𝑳𝒂𝒄𝒔 for a few days this July… and got married! ❤️🥂

Surrounded by our closest family and friends, we spent 3 unforgettable nights at the stunning — the perfect setting for our small, intimate, and very French wedding. 🇫🇷❤️

Over the years, so many of you have arrived at 𝑳𝒆𝒔 𝑫𝒆𝒖𝒙 𝑳𝒂𝒄𝒔 as guests but left as friends. So many of you have asked about our wedding, how the day went, and, of course, asked to see some photos!

So, although this is a little different from our usual posts, no fish in sight, we thought we’d share a shortened video capturing some of the highlights of our very special day.

We had the most incredible 3 days surrounded by the people we love, filled with laughter, love, amazing food, plenty of French wine, and memories we’ll treasure forever.

We genuinely wouldn’t change a thing. It was simply perfect. ❤️

𝗠𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗮 𝗙𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗛𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘆 — 𝗔 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸 𝗼𝗳 𝗙𝗮𝗺𝗶𝗹𝘆, 𝗙𝘂𝗻, 𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗲𝗻𝗱𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗽 & 𝗨𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗠𝗲𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗲𝘀!

Last week, we welcomed new guests, Tony, Kate, their daughter Annabelle, and Snoop the sausage dog 🐶 to 𝑳𝒆𝒔 𝑫𝒆𝒖𝒙 𝑳𝒂𝒄𝒔.

Mornings and evenings were spent as a family by the lake fishing, catching some lovely fish 🎣 catching frogs & crayfish, playing fetch with Snoop and many hours and pushes on the swing.

Days were spent exploring or local region, visiting the market town of Piegut, relaxing at Saint Estephe beach, strolling through the beautiful villages of Brantome and St Jean de Cole and visiting the historic WW2 town of Oradour-sur-glane.

Whilst Tony and Annabelle fished in the mornings, Kate also took advantage of the local scenery on our doorstep, heading out into the French countryside for a run 🏃‍♀️ running through forests, small hamlets and past the odd Chateau or two.

Last week, we had the pleasure of welcoming new guests, Mike and Hayley, along with their 3 children and Hayley's dad, Bob, to 𝑳𝒆𝒔 𝑫𝒆𝒖𝒙 𝑳𝒂𝒄𝒔.

Conditions are still tough here, with water levels still dropping daily as we've not had the rain that other areas of France have received, and we're in desperate need of it.

Despite the conditions, Mike fished on, alongside Bob, and they managed 9 fish between them. 8 fish for Mike, including his first ever Grass Carp. Bob only fished a few days and only managed to land 1 fish, but when it's a new PB, nothing else matters. We'll done Bob! 🏆

Another week here at 𝑳𝒆𝒔 𝑫𝒆𝒖𝒙 𝑳𝒂𝒄𝒔 watching new family memories being made!!

𝟰 𝗣𝗕'𝘀 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗺 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗥𝗼𝗯 & 𝗪𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗺 𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘁 𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗸, 𝗶𝗻 𝗲𝘅𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗮𝗴𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝘁 𝑳𝒆𝒔 𝑫𝒆𝒖𝒙 𝑳𝒂𝒄𝒔!

Last week, we welcomed back, Tracy, Rob, and their son William, an avid angler. Having set his PB here last year, William was back to try and better it again, hoping the weather and conditions would be on his.

It really was a week of 2 halves, the first 3 days being slightly cooler with slight cloud, followed by 4 days of intense heat, temperatures reaching 40 degrees again and switching the lake off....

Making the most of the first 3 days, both Rob and William fished hard and achieved what they set out to do, with 4 PB's between them!

The fishing the second half of the week was extremely tough due to the temperatures, but the Dad & Lad duo kept busy and entertained, lure fishing for some of our smaller Predator fish. They managed a good amount of Zander and 4 small cats (that were removed and re-homed in a lake just up the road). A great activity, especially to keep the younger guests and anglers interested.

It is a pleasure having such a love family return and being able to watch this young angler grow in his angling ability year on year!

'𝗦𝗼 𝗺𝘂𝗰𝗵 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗮𝗻 𝗷𝘂𝘀𝘁 𝗮 𝗳𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘆!'

Last week, we had the pleasure of welcoming Martin, Stephanie, and their two boys, Ronnie & Vinny, to 𝑳𝒆𝒔 𝑫𝒆𝒖𝒙 𝑳𝒂𝒄𝒔 for their very first visit. ❤️

Having booked their holiday way back in August 2024, it was fantastic to finally welcome them through the gates — and even better to see them enjoying the place exactly as we always hoped families would when we created 𝑳𝒆𝒔 𝑫𝒆𝒖𝒙 𝑳𝒂𝒄𝒔.

Dad Martin and Ronnie enjoying some quality fishing time together 🎣 while Mum Stephanie and Vinny made the most of the pool and relaxing surroundings.

Something for everyone, and plenty of time to enjoy it together. ☀️🏊‍♀️🎣

The relentless summer conditions certainly made the fishing challenging, but Martin and Ronnie weren't going to let that stop them! 💪🎣
They finished the week with an impressive 14 fish from 16 takes, including some fantastic PB'S for young Ronnie:

𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸 𝟮 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗦𝗶𝗺𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗱𝗮𝘂𝗴𝗵𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗝𝗲𝘀𝘀, 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗻𝘂𝗲𝗱 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗺𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝗻𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝘀𝗵 𝗰𝗮𝘂𝗴𝗵𝘁 𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝘁 𝑳𝒆𝒔 𝑫𝒆𝒖𝒙 𝑳𝒂𝒄𝒔!

Jess and Grandma Norma left us on Tuesday, returning home and leaving Simon & Emma here for the remaining few days.

Jess managed 2 new PB's whilst here, a lovely PB Common in week 1 and a PB Cat in week 2... more like a kitten, but they all count.

Simon continued to fish and caught regularly, despite the heat and difficult conditions. With Simon being a regular visitor here, having prior knowledge of the lake, fish behavior, feeding spots and bite times certainly helps when conditions are tough and this were proven the last 2 weeks, landing 32 fish.

This was Simon and Emma's 4th visit to 𝑳𝒆𝒔 𝑫𝒆𝒖𝒙 𝑳𝒂𝒄𝒔 (with their 5 visit already booked for next year), and they've become good friends of ours, as many of our regular/returning guests do. Whilst Simon fished, Emma enjoyed many games of Bingo, with our our own 2 children, who love it when they visit!

See you again next year, for the same 2 weeks! We're already looking forward to it.

𝗗𝗮𝗱 & 𝗗𝗮𝘂𝗴𝗵𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗙𝗶𝘀𝗵𝗶𝗻𝗴 - 𝗪𝗲𝗲𝗸 𝟭

Regular guests, Simon & Emma, arrived last week for a 2 week stay with us here at 𝑳𝒆𝒔 𝑫𝒆𝒖𝒙 𝑳𝒂𝒄𝒔, but this time with grandma Norma to relax, and daughter Jess in hand to give her Dad a run for his money, to see who could catch the most fish, or the biggest fish!

Jess, desperate for a catfish, is leading the way so far with this lovely 30+ common, but dad Simon has caught more and is hot on her heels.

Despite conditions being far from perfect, the heatwave continuing, lake levels dropping, an algea bloom and fluctuating oxygen levels, Simon & Jess are keeping their tactics simple, only baiting and fishing a few spots, not chasing the fish, and leaving large areas of the lake alone, especially close to the aeratores, no lines or pressure, allowing fish to recover or seek comfort if feeling stressed.

Aside from the fishing, days have been spent out as a family enjoying:

• The local market in Nontron on a Saturday
• Saint Estephe beach and swimming lake
• Lunch at a local Michelin Guide restaurant
• Afternoons around the pool
• Evenings with a glass of wine lakeside
• And more planned to see and do this week coming
