Journee Patrimoine last w/e and on Sunday we visited 3 local Chateaux - de L'àge and Beau Chene in Alloue and the one in the centre of Champagne Mouton. Excellent guided tours at all three, thank you and music in the comments. On Saturday we had gone a bit further afield to Chateau de Peyras near Roumaziers with a few market stalls and an excellent guided tour. Thank you.

It has been a really strange year so far, so much rain and warmth, so all the weeds and grasses are growing like mad. But the last couple of days we've been working really hard to clear things and to plant in the potager and so we are suffering a bit with aching muscles/bones et. Supposed to be a storm tonight - we'll see.

Hier, on a dit au revoir à notre charmant voisin Denis-Roland Morisset (alias Maurice). On est très triste, mais il est clair que beaucoup d'autres le sont aussi, avec plus de 100 personnes à l'église de Benest et ensuite au cimetière.
Je vais partager avec vous un de mes souvenirs de son générosité:
Maurice est venu un jour à notre porte et il m'a dit,
"Tu aimes les carottes ?" J'ai répondu : "Oui".
Il m'a dit : "Je vais t'en apporter".
Il est parti et est revenu peu de temps après avec une brouette PLEINE de carottes !

Lovely morning walk today and the sun is finally rising at a time I can appreciate it. Not appreciating the blocked Chemin though.

So a couple of weeks ago we took a little holiday to Burgundy and I thought i'd share some photos of our visit and activities. We stayed in a village called Saint Martin Belle Roche about 10km north of Macon in a super one bedroom gite with access to garden and swimming pool. Agnes our host was super too. We visited local vinyards at Fleurie, Julianas, Chateau de la Greffiere at La roche vineuse and may have done a bit of wine tasting too. The gardens and chateau at Cormatin were lovely, the medieval Chateau de Brancion with amazing views the famous hospices and town at Beaune, Macon, Tournus and several other places along the river Saone. On the way home we stopped at Lyon for lunch and overnight at Clermont Ferrand too and found music and dancing at the foot of the Cathedral.
