Went for a little walk along the Charante just 6km outside of Cognac. I love this river and am looking forward to testing out the swimming spot we discovered, when the temperatures of air and water are slightly more accommodating.

Charante Sunsets are the best.Thankfully they don’t stop in Winter.

Beautiful wood burning stove, Bordeaux red wine and candles lit on the mantle piece.
The house is cosy warm in winter (not that it’s cold here yet) but the nights are already single figures so very pleased to be inside for dinner now.

The Summer Kitchen is the cutest little ‘tiny house’ it even has a chimney. Originally to keep the main house cool during the summer.
Although we don’t do so much cooking on a fire these days this is a useful little extra space for parasols and loungers, gardening tools and seedlings…
