It’s only a 5 minute walk into the village of Fourques where you will find a bakery, butchers, pharmacy post office.
3 minutes to the local cave (pronounced ‘carve’, where you can stock up on locally produced wines)
1 minute to an ancient roman chapel!!! Nearest town is Thuir (pronounced ‘tweer’), which is a 20 minute drive away. There is a weekly market there (on Saturday mornings) as well as a larger range of shops, cafes, banks etc.
25 minute drive to various Mediterranean beaches
Picturesque and historical towns of Ceret, Collioure and Argeles sur Mer are only 30 minute drives away
And it’s 45 minutes to the mountains, an hour and a half away from the ski slopes! Getting there:
Nearest airport/major train station is Perpignan, 25 minutes away. Within easy reach is Carcassonne, Beziers, Montpellier, as alternative airport destinations. The Spanish border is only 20 minutes away so you could easily drive from Girona (40 mins) or Barcelona (90 mins).
