A country house set in peaceful Normandy countryside. A ten metre heated swimming pool is perfect for game playing kids and adults wanting to cool off.

Also known as Chateau sur le Jardin, this six bedroom country house (or manoir) can accommodate up to 14 people. It is set in three acres of grounds with a purpose built tennis court and a games room (with internal bar and an, admittedly rather battered, pool table. An outdoor table tennis table, and a sitting dining and BBQ area is perfect for those balmy Normandy evenings.§

stefully furnished and fully stocked book shelves and DVD racks mean there are many excuses to pass mornings or afternoons in the peace and quiet of the house and gardens. There is plenty to do in the area however. It is located fifteen minutes from the coast (sandy beaches) and many charming Normandy towns and villages. Mont St Michel is 40 minutes away so we are perfectly positioned so that our visitors can get there early and avoid the crowds. The D Day Beaches are an hour or so away and repay return visits (with plenty of reading material on the Battle of Normandy in the house). Bayeux with its Cathederal and famous tapestry is an easy one hour drive away. Granville is a delightful fishing town with its museums, art galleries, restaurants and bars. And for those cooking at home there is a huge choice to be had from local supermarches and markets. Originally built in the 1850s by a Parisian jeweller, it remained in the same family until recently. For the past 15 year or so it has been owned by the Mathias family of London (hence on Google maps the property is identified as Chateau Mathias) who have created many happy memories here and welcome visitors of all nationalities to their precious home, where they are well looked after by the resident guardien.

DESTRUCTION OF WAR IN NORMANDY 🇺🇸

▪️This powerful Then & Now photograph was taken just outside of Carentan in the town of Brevand, Normandy. The 101st Airborne Division would fight tenaciously against German forces to secure this town. As you can see from the destruction of the church, there was heavy combat around this area in the month of June 1944.

Thankfully, the church was repaired and now it is hard to imagine the destruction that took place there. These photographs help us to remember the past and the fragility of peace.

We should never forget.🥀
