Le Haut Coudray Farmhouse

This is our 250 year old farmhouse set in the heart of the Loire Valley in France. Available for rental through the summer months.

Great for cyclimg and wine tastimg in the local vineyards. Our 250 year old farmhouse is in quiet countryside with views of woods, vineyards and open fields. The Loire region is world famous for its wine - both growing and tasting - and has many restaurants and historic chateaux's, they're all easily accessible from our farmhouse, the nearest vintner being less than 1km away. The farmhouse boasts

spacious accomodation which has been recently renovated. A fully functional country kitchen, four spacious bedrooms (one mezzanine), easily to accomodate up to eight and a family orientated sitting area with UK satellite TV, selection of DVD's, books and games all complimented with large original Toffeau fire place with wood burning stove. Two family bathrooms complete with showers and roll top baths for a relaxing feel. Outdoors there is a fantastic heated swimming pool with sun loungers and south/west facing terrace to sit and watch the sun go down along with BBQ area for those budding chefs. We are more than happy to accept well behaved family pets. Nueil sur Layon is our nearest village about 10 minutes drive away. Here you'll find the local shops, including a baker for morning croissants, a mini-supermarket (open Sunday mornings), a bar tabac, a popular ‘workman’s’ restaurant, a pharmacy, and a small petrol station and garage. Vihiers (6km) is our nearest small town, with its new town square. There's an open-air swimming pool, a big Super-U supermarket that sells pretty well everything, banks with cash machines and a weekly street market. Doue la Fontaine is the nearest large town. It's about 15-20 minutes (9km) drive away, with a large range of shops, a street market and many places of interest, including one of the best zoos in Europe and extensive subterranean 'troglodyte' houses and museums

Saumur (26km) is on the banks of the Loire and about half an hour away, with its chateau, more upmarket shops, great places to eat and drink and the world famous cavalry school. The 'Cadre' is well worth a visit. The Futuroscope theme park is just over an hour's drive away just outside Poitiers. The seaside is about an hour and a half drive away, through Cholet and past Nantes. There are dozens of big and small resorts on the Atlantic coast, all with plenty of sea and sand. Nearest airports at Tours, Nantes and Poitiers can easily be reached within an hour and ferry ports are all within a reasonable drive.
