Shirley has been planting flowers in the backyard, including this morning. Then we celebrated Mother's Day with the Pasamontes with a homemade brunch on the terrace. Our menu included a fresh fruit platter, Shirley's buttermilk biscuits with mushroom gravy, Jacques Pepin's Maman's Cheese Soufflé, tater tots, and rhubarb spoon cake.

We did a walk around Nice and the Sunday market. Bought delicious socca and cut fruit to nibble on drive back to Sablet. We had a great time visiting Nice and some of the surrounding towns and villages along the French Riviera. The hotel La Perouse was conveniently located near old town Nice on the Mediterranean Sea.

Finally got the opportunity to dine at La Merenda in Nice, France. Tiny, only 24 seats, half of which are small stools. Intimate, you end up visiting with diners at next table. It's an experience and the food and service were excellent. I hope to return.

Visit to Ville Franche Sur Mer, including a walk along the Mediterranean Sea. The dog swimming was amazing.

Visit to hilltop village of Saint Paul de Vence, a short distance from Nice, France. More art galleries than you can imagine. The artist Marc Chagall is buried in the village cemetery.

Visit to the beautiful French Riviera town of Antibes. We walked through the historical center including the Provençal market. We toured the Picasso Museum.
