Vacations are meant to be family time including your four legged members. You are 10 minutes from awesome beaches, in one of the top ranked wine areas (Medoc).

You have a large garden, pool, and 10mins to beautiful beaches, with a vineyard as your neighbour. You have 3000m2 of private yard and a 7mx8m private pool, with a bien etre facility where your kids can play without waking sleeping parents. There is no TV or Radio, but with provided Wifi you can bring your streaming content. You can be active or you can laze in the sun, or you can hit the water at the beach or pool. Your choice, enjoy!

About 3 or 4 years ago we had to cut back one of our oldest trees. I did a circumference check and it came out to about 225 years old. The tree had real problems due to a storm and it was not looking in good shape.

I wanted to cut it down but the tree guy said to keep it, but trim it. He explained to me that even big trees need pruning and maintenance. Not very often, but they do at times.

He was not wrong the tree is full of life and it will easily do another hundred years. I am impressed. He has been doing work for me every year and prunes two or three trees. We have over a dozen old trees on our lot.

I just managed to get back to Vensac and it was depressive. The lawns were out of control, weeds everywhere, ronce (blackberry bushes) are everywhere. To top it off one of our trees died. On the bright side due to the wilderness of the property there was a deer living in the grass, and the Laurier Rose look really good.

Well construction is underway on Gite Bellatrix in Portugal. It will be available at the earliest in 2027. That's really the earliest. I am trying to keep an Algarve look a feel to the place. Yes it will have electric car charging facilities.

Soo... Gite Bellatrix could not be opened this year due to a burglary in our house in Portugal. It was not funny and I have to stay in Portugal to get the house in order.

But there is good news. Gite Belatrix will be reopened in 2026 and we have reorganized everything. Meaning Gite Belatrix will not just be one place, but three places in different locations. There is Gite Belatrix Vensac France, but there will also be Gite Belatrix Beurnevesin Switzerland, and Gite Belatrix Messines Portugal.

Due to unforeseen circumstances beyond my control Gite Bellatrix is closed for 2025. I did not want this to happen, but it did and I am sorry.

And in other news there will be a second gite that will be added. In Beurnevesin Switzerland we will have another gite. It will be able to host 6 people and is right on the border to France. The place is very nice for long hikes and it is not too strenuous. You are literally a hope away from three countries and their various specialities.

Well there is good news and the other good news. The good news is that there will be a 2025 season. The other good news, is that the Gite will be managed by another person. We are in the process of getting that ready and once it is I will add a link to the new host.

I am very sure she will do a wonderful job. She is from the hospitality business and understands how important something like this is.

It was interesting I talked to various people and she was the only one who was serious. The others saw it as a way to make easy money. The rub is that a gite is not easy money if you want to do it right. Its hard work and its rewarding when the guests go back home happy.

My role will be to prepare, and maintain the gite. The day to day will be handled by her. So I will still post updates on the gite, but she will handle the ex*****on of the stay.

All packed away for two years! Now the long delayed construction on our house can begin.

And with that the Gite Bellatrix season is closed. Now comes the time to pack things away, clean things, and get the area ready for winter.

There will be no season 2025 because of some construction on our house beside the gite that needs to be completed. It has been postponed for several years now.

This year I have only one client as I shutdown the website in January. The client booked in October of 2023. Well its ready for them and the weather is quite good for the next three weeks. Ola has done her inspection and all is good! We are a popular gite as well allow dogs and they have nearly an acre of garden to roam around.
