I never get tired of our French hoosie, but these photos made me see it in a completely different way.
Our lovely Dutch guests who stayed with us recently flew their drone over the house and kindly shared the footage afterwards. Seeing our 16th-century former paper mill from above was something really special. We've never seen it from these angles before.
The aerial views really show how the house sits alongside the river. Hundreds of years ago, the river actually flowed beneath the mill as part of the paper-making process, before it was diverted to its current course. There was once a huge waterwheel on the riverside wall too, harnessing the river's power to keep the mill running.
A special mention has to go to their two sons, who did a fantastic job capturing the footage. I think they might have a future as videographers! đ
It's amazing to think about the generations of people who have lived and worked here, and how much history these old walls have witnessed.
A huge thank you to the whole family Leonieke Klein for giving us a perspective of our home we've never seen before. We'll treasure these photos and videos for years to come.
