Ceredig Morgan-

Gareth Flynn- Born in Aberystwyth and a fluent Welsh speaker, I studied at Pembrokeshire college, where I gained a national diploma in construction and a degree in Architectural Design & Technology. I have worked alongside my uncle Ceredig from a young age where I have gained a sound knowledge in Architecture. I have worked on a wide range of projects ranging from historic and listed buildings to commercial and new builds. I have worked for large architectural practices in Mid Wales, but my heart has always lied in developing a small but more personal company, to ensure the finer details and customer care is prioritised. As of this year, Ceredig and I have now joined in partnership to form Morgan and Flynn Architectural Services and I am now looking forward to what the future holds.

Maesyfelin Care Home, Llanybydder, Ceredigion -

We’ve just received planning permission by Ceredigion County Council for this specialist dementia care unit at Maesyfelin Care Home. The extension has been designed using biophilic principles, integrating the building with its natural surroundings. The layout encourages residents to access outdoor areas, with landscaped grounds that include space for growing produce, a new pond to support wildlife, and solar panels incorporated within the roof to support energy efficiency.

The extension will provide 10 additional bedrooms, each with en-suite facilities and associated living space, with direct access to external amenity areas. The design aims to create a dementia-friendly environment, incorporating clear wayfinding, safe and simple circulation routes, and calm, homely finishes.

HOME RENOVATION & EXTENSION

Another successful planning approval through the door here at Morgan & Flynn, this time for a renovation and extension to a house in Pennant!

Our scheme transforms this traditional farmhouse and attached dilapidated dwelling into a forever family home. The proposal creates an open plan kitchen living diner, along with a separate cosy sitting room, utilities & shower room to the ground floor. The re-designed and extended first floor allows for four double bedrooms, one with en-suite, and a family bathroom.

Externally, the farmhouse has been stripped back to it’s natural stone facade, which had previously been covered up with external wall insulation. The extensions incorporate contrasting render, combined with reclaimed stone from the existing outbuilding. To complete the transformation, a new oak post porch to the relocated front door creates a welcoming focal point.

We’re delighted to receive planning approval for this recently designed holiday cabin, located at the family owned vineyard for Gwinllan Llaethliw Vineyard, just outside of Aberaeron. The cabin, built on stilts up above the vines will give an experience like no other!

The design incorporates a cosy open plan kitchen & living space, with a strategically designed bedroom space hidden to the rear for added privacy. To capture views over the vineyard below, a feature glazed gable end creates the main entrance, with the addition of fixed glazing overlooking the cantilevered balcony. Externally, metal corrugated sheets finished in black provide a striking appearance, whilst also tying the cabin back to its agricultural siting.

HOME MODERNISATION

Check out this transformation we completed in Aberaeron, where the clients sought to achieve a more free-flowing living space inside, whilst also improving aesthetics externally.

We achieved this by opening up the existing kitchen living diner, as well as swapping the flat ceiling to a light and airy vaulted space, incorporating exposed A frame trusses. To complete the project, we introduced two feature gable windows to the existing wall, giving the front elevation that wow factor from the road!
