What is an EPC?
Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) rate a building's energy efficiency from A (extremely efficient) to G (inefficient), similar to the multicoloured sticker on new appliances. They can estimate your property's carbon dioxide emissions as well as the cost of heating and lighting it.
An EPC also details the potential energy efficiency rating for your home if you implemented the suggested modifications and shows the most affordable ways to raise the rating. You could still make some of the adjustments suggested on the EPC even if you rent your home, such switching to more energy-efficient lightbulbs.
EPCs are valid for ten years from the day they are issued.
