A stay like no other… 🏰✨

700 years of history, Gothic architecture, enormous vaulted rooms and log fires… Butley Priory is somewhere you will always remember.

Once part of an Augustinian Priory, this Grade I listed Suffolk stay has been beautifully restored into an unforgettable place for getting together. Gather around the fire in the magnificent Great Hall, discover the hidden Pilgrim’s Bar, dine beneath vaulted ceilings and wander through gardens surrounded by ancient woodland.

With space for up to 11 guests, a private tennis court and some of Suffolk’s most beautiful places within easy reach, this is one for the truly special occasions.

Harry Potter lived here… ⚡️

The famous childhood home in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows was filmed at De Vere House in Lavenham! There’s a few other buildings that you might recognise from the film too…

A must visit for Harry Potter fans! 😍

A fact you might not know about Long Melford… 🥥👀

You might be familiar with Suffolk’s famous wool trade, but did you know Long Melford also had a thriving coconut trade?!

In the 19th century, coconut husks were brought all the way from the Indian subcontinent to be made into coconut matting in the village. The industry became an important source of work for Long Melford, particularly as the traditional wool trade began to decline.

And Long Melford wasn’t alone in feeling the impact of the changing wool industry. While nearby Lavenham is famous for its wealth from wool, its industry couldn’t adapt to the coconut trade in the same way, helping Long Melford find a rather unexpected new source of prosperity! 🥥

So next time you wander through Long Melford, look out for the Coconut House on Hall Street, a little reminder of this fascinating chapter in this village’s history. 🤎
