Stay safe everyone
LONG, BUT IMPORTANT, POST
Rushmoor now has the 12th highest coronavirus infection rate in the UK โ putting Aldershot and Farnborough on the map for all the wrong reasons.
The overall infection rate in Aldershot and Farnborough is now 1287.5 per 100,000, according to the latest figures โ thatโs a rise of 71.5% on the last week. Every part of the borough has infection rates far higher than the national average and a number of areas in both Aldershot and Farnborough have rates between 1500 and nearly 2000 cases per 100,000 people.
Currently, the virus is highest in working age people, particularly in their 20s and 30s, but itโs affecting all ages.
Our hospitals and their staff are under pressure and this week, Frimley Health announced it was postponing most non-urgent operations and appointments so it could continue to give patients the care they urgently need.
Around one in three people with coronavirus donโt have any symptoms, but you can still spread it to others and make them ill.
And from what we know, most people in Aldershot and Farnborough are catching coronavirus while you are out and about locally, which is why you must take care of yourselves and others.
The single most important thing you can do during this national lockdown is stay at home.
But if you do need to go out โ for example for essential shopping - remember the simple steps that will help keep you, and others, safe:
โข Wash your hands regularly
โข Cover your face
โข Make space from others โ keeping 2 metres apart

But please stay safe, protect yourself and protect the NHS so it's there for those who need it most.
