🌍 Today is World Environment Day 🌿

When people think about helping the environment, they often picture huge global initiatives, documentaries narrated by famous people 🎥, or someone planting an entire forest 🌳🌳🌳.

For us, it is usually a little less dramatic.

It is a team spotting a patch of wildflowers 🌼 and deciding it should stay.

It is checking for nesting activity 🐦 before hedge trimming begins.

It is noticing signs of pests, disease or declining plant health 🌱 before they become bigger problems.

It is making hundreds of small decisions throughout the year that help outdoor spaces work better for both people and wildlife 🐝🦋.

World Environment Day, celebrated every year on the 5th June 📅, is all about encouraging awareness and action to protect the environment 🌎.

The good news is that action does not always have to be huge.

Sometimes it starts with a single flower being left to bloom 🌼, a bee finding somewhere to feed 🐝, or a green space being managed with a little more thought 🌿.

Those small things soon add up 💚.

🌿 A week of hedge trimming ✂️

Here’s a look at some of the hedge maintenance our teams have carried out over the past week across a range of communal grounds.

These are routine trims to maintain shape, appearance and clear pathways, rather than hedge reductions.

At this time of year, every hedge is thoroughly inspected before work begins to check for any active nesting birds. If nesting activity is found, we adjust our plans accordingly to protect wildlife and comply with current legislation.

It’s all about balancing well-maintained grounds with responsible management of the habitats that share them. 🐦🌱

☀️ One thing we have always loved about looking after communal grounds and shared spaces is the sense of community you often get from the people who live there.

The teams were kindly offered some ice cold drinks today while working at one of the rooftop courtyard gardens we maintain and honestly, it was very appreciated in this heat 🍊❄️

We have actually looked after this particular development for nearly 20 years now, which says a lot about the relationships you build over time when you regularly care for the same grounds and outdoor spaces 🌿

Small gestures like this really do make a difference when you are working outdoors all day in a heatwave ☀️
