Exciting news! 🎉 Alongside Eastland Banks Barn, Dockleaf have now secured the remaining farm buildings on the site. We can’t wait to share what’s coming next …

Working on the superstructure at Eastland Banks Barn.

This stage is where the building starts to take shape - bringing together materials that are both durable and rooted in the landscape.

We’ve used blackened timber cladding to create a bold, natural finish. Paired with Northumbrian stone, it ties the build back to its surroundings and local character.

The alu-clad windows give us the best of both worlds - warm internal finishes with a tough, low maintenance exterior. And to top it off, an aluminium roof for longevity, clean lines, and resilience against the elements.

Tim doing a late shift tonight, and learning a new skill in the process🤩. We really should have taken some more 'before' photos for this beautiful period property we are working on at the moment.

Sycamore Gap holds a special place in all our hearts. A place where Roman history meets nature. A humble Sycamore tree sprouted and perfectly positioned itself in the gap where the wall would have once majestically stood. Was this nature's way of thanking all the builders of old for their past creation? I liked to think so.

We loved taking a selfie on our regular outings to the Sill. It is an emblem of Northumberland and has given so much pleasure to many. We are incredibly sad about the news that this special tree was vandalised and felled last night.

A big thank you to everyone who supported our Mighty Hike MacMillan fundraiser. We had a great day yesterday walking 26 miles from Alnwick Castle to Bamburgh Castle in ☀️ 🌧️ ⚡️ ⛈️ it was amazing and every step of the way was made much easier knowing we had raised over £1000 for MacMillan Cancer support.

It was heartening to be around lots of folk walking for loved ones or have been affected by the disease themselves. We too have loved ones who have been affected by cancer. For me, I was inspired by my wonderful late Mum 🧡💛, sister Di 🩵🩷💜 who is presently half way through her treatment as well as friend Helen 🧡🩵💛 who was treated for cancer during lockdown. This week has been a revelation to me to see such brave and positive ladies in a chemotherapy ward when I went with Di who is half way through her treatment. Tomorrow Di is being treated to a feel good pamper session. This I presume is through the likes of the charity and vitally important when suffering from all the nasty side effects of the treatment.

Always a busy weekend in Corbridge when it's the annual Steam Rally. Lovely to see vintage cars, tractors and steam engines roll through our little village, crossing over the bridge and heading into the rugby fields to chin wag with fellow vintage buffs. Matt is threatening to take his Massey Ferguson next year 🤪
Tractors & cricket, the Dockleaf fellas couldn't ask for much more on a sunny day in June.

After welcoming guests from America this morning, I can't wait to read what their favourite sights are around Northumberland in this lovely Northumbrian tweed guest book from .

Our guests have booked the roving AD122 Hadrian's Wall Country Bus, so my first recommendation was a stop at Vindolanda to see archeology in action.
Perhaps while they are there someone might find a gem like the Hunt Cup, that my incredibly talented friend recreated for me in her beautiful artwork for The Old Workshop. The Hunt Cup is on display in Corbridge Roman town, and is a definite favourite attraction on our doorstep!

Share your favourite place to visit in Northumberland so I can pass on recommendations to future guests at our holiday cottages!
