We’ve seen some creative DIY in our time, but this one deserves its own award.

In today’s video: a bin bag stuffed into a wall, apparently doing the job of a DPC. Spoiler alert… it’s not doing the job of a DPC.

In this video, you’ll see two asbestos‑clad pipes discovered in the roof space of a pre‑2000 property during one of our recent surveys. They look harmless at first glance — but disturbing asbestos without knowing it’s there can release fibres that pose serious health risks.

🔎 A quick reminder:
Asbestos was widely used in UK homes until 1999, which means any property built before 2000 could contain it — in lofts, pipe lagging, insulation boards, textured coatings, and more.

⚠️ If you’re planning DIY, renovations, or even just clearing out your loft, always be cautious.

THINK VERY CAREFULLY BEFORE BUYING A HOUSE WITH CRACKS LIKE THIS.

Vertical cracks on the inside and outside of an extension are an indication of subsidence and/or settlement.
